Despite Auburn pledge, Askew will take five official visits

Malcolm Askew’s commitment to Auburn is unchanged. He’s a member of the Tigers’ 2017 class and plans to remain as such indefinitely. Still, as has become the norm in recruitment, the four-star athlete will have a final look around before putting a pen to his letter of intent in February.

Official visits? Askew will take a few.

“I’m not going to visit any other SEC schools, but I’m going to take officials to probably Oklahoma, TCU, Miami, Cal and Auburn,” Askew said. “Those will be the only other four schools that have any chance to get me probably.”

Askew’s list of official visit destinations may have a random aura to it, but the four-star prospect assures that the list is the product of careful planning and research. According to Askew, there are unifying themes at work.

“They’ve all just been recruiting me really hard and I feel like I can fit in and play at all of them,” he said.

IN HIS WORDS: “Auburn is just telling me to be the lead recruiter for us right now. Then, they’re telling me that they want me to come in play every position in the secondary.”

RIVALS REACTION: The smart money is on Askew sticking with Auburn. A part of him has always liked the perks and attention that come with the recruiting process, so the fact that he is planning to take visit should shock nobody. Things could certainly change with a particularly great campus visit, but, at least for now, a change of heart seems like a long shot.
