Derrick Jones Down to Two

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) wide out Derrick Jones has narrowed his choices down to two but unless he takes an extra official visit this weekend, it could be a no brainer decision for the speedy receiver.

“I’m down to USC and Oregon,” Jones said. “Cal was up there too but they called me earlier this week and said they were out of scholarships. I was really liking them too but I guess that’s how it goes. I talked to Oregon tonight and I may take an official visit there this weekend. We’re going to try and get something set up and I’m supposed to call them back again tomorrow to see if we can finalize that.”

It’s tough to imagine a decision for Oregon without actually visiting right?

“Yeah, I won’t commit somewhere that I’ve never been before,” Jones said. “I do like Oregon though and I’m hoping to take that visit. It’s close between them, right now, I really couldn’t decide if I wanted to. I’m going to announce on Fox Sports on Signing Day. They’re having a Signing Day show and that’s when I’ll make my decision.”

If Jones isn’t able to make that visit to Oregon this weekend, his announcement will probably lack any real drama. If Jones does make the visit to Oregon, it could make for a very interesting decision to come a week from today.
