Deon Drake commits

The recruitment of Detroit Cass Tech 2014 linebacker Deon Drake has been hot for the last couple months, but this weekend the 6-foot-2, 215-pound prospected ended that recruitment by committing to a Big Ten program.
"He committed to Michigan State," said his father, Deon Drake Sr. "That was yesterday, but we didn't let anyone know until this morning after we talked to the family. There's a lot of pressure off him now."

Drake initially named Michigan State his leader following an early August visit to East Lansing, and that feeling never abated in the weeks following.
"He liked the coaches, he liked the atmosphere and the family of the players," Drake Sr. said. "He was really impressed with the facilities, the coaches and the players."
Besides Michigan State, Drake also held offers from Cincinnati, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse. He joins class of 2013 teammate Dennis Finley, who committed to the Spartans this summer.
