Denver WR staying near home

Denver (Colo.) Montbello wide receiver Jerrell Yates had several scholarship offers to consider as he tried to make a college choice. The No. 6 rated player in the Rocky Mountain State decided after one official visit it was time to end the recruiting process.
“I really enjoyed my visit to Colorado this weekend,” the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Yates said. “I got to hang around the players and visit with them about what it was like to be part of the team. I had a chance to visit with the coaches some more and I just decided that was the school I wanted to play for.”

The coaching staff indicated that Yates could have a chance to get on the field early in his career.
“They told me they were having some openings at receiver,” he said. “If I get in there and work hard and get the offense, I can make it on the field. I need to show them I can help them out and I am worthy of playing to get that shot.”
Yates does not plan on taking any other official visits now that he has made a verbal commitment to the Buffaloes.
“I won’t be looking at any other schools,” he said. “I am happy with my choice and I’m not going to take any other trips.”
