Dennard makes his choice

North Carolina picked up a number of commitments over the weekend. One of those was 5-foot-10, 185-pound cornerback Alfonzo Dennard out of Rochelle (Ga.) Wilcox County.
"I committed Sunday afternoon to North Carolina," he said. "I talked to the coaches and they all were happy."

Dennard went into detail why he chose the Tar Heels.
"I like their coaching staff a lot," he said. "They have good coaches. Butch Davis is a nice man and they all have a lot of experience which is really good too. Their graduation rates are big too.
"Also, I like the players there a lot. The players on the team are very nice. I was hosted by Richie Rich. I had a lot of fun with him. He told me how the coaches think I can work my way in and play early if I come there ready."
The three-star prospect is getting looks for both sides of the ball.
"They want me to play defensive back, but the offensive coordinator wants me on offense too. It doesn't matter I'll do whatever is best for the team."
