Dempsey schedules first official

Safety John Dempsey out of Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O'Hara has approximately a half dozen offers in hand. The 6-foot-0, 196-pounder has scheduled his first official visit with one of those schools.
"I have a visit planned to Michigan State on September 23rd when they face Notre Dame," he said. "I held a verbal from Michigan State for awhile up until the other night and then the coaches called and confirmed it's on the way.

"I chose to take a visit there because they have a great program with a tremendous opportunity. They are an amazing school that is in the Big Ten which is a football conference I'd love to play in. I'm very excited about the game there. It should be huge especially since Notre Dame is No. 4"
At this time, the two-star prospect isn't working on any other official visits although one school continues to make a strong case.
"I'd say West Virginia is right in the running with Michigan State," he said. "I haven't been in contact with their coaches in a little while, but it's a perfect fit and a wonderful opportunity presented to me. They are a great school with a solid scheme and I love that. I also love coach Rodriguez."
Meanwhile, a couple other schools will be keeping a close eye on the Keystone State prospect this season.
"I've been in touch with both Penn State and Rutgers," he said. "Both of them are going to watch me through the year and then possibly offer."
Last week Cardinal O'Hara kicked off the season against Easton with a 6-0 loss.
"Actually I didn't play that much because I sprained my ankle at the end of the first quarter," he said. "The coaches wanted to keep me out so that I'll be fresh for league play. Before I went out I had four tackles and a 15-yard run.
"I should be ready to go Friday night although the coaches may rest me for another week. They don't want me to go out and injure myself again."
