Dempsey has an awesome visit to MSU

Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O'Hara safety John Dempsey made the trip to East Lansing this weekend to check out the Spartans. The 6-foot-0, 196-pounder took his first official visit to Michigan State and was impressed with what he saw.
"It was an awesome visit and I was impressed with coach Smith and the staff," he said. "I got up there Saturday morning around 10 and toured the facilities, saw the academic and football side. I definitely liked the stadium and atmosphere there. That made a huge impression on me that they were dedicated to football and their facilities are top of the line.

"I also was able to spend time with the coaches including Jeff Stoutland, coach Smeland and John L. Smith. I talked to the defensive coaches about the scheme they run and how they attack. I found that very interesting. I also enjoyed my time with coach Smith. I'm happy he got a chance to see my film and he said he really liked it. He is a very straightforward guy and answered everything I had questions about. He was really honest."
Of course, the game was a good one too even though the Spartans couldn't quite hang on.
"It was amazing," he said. "I couldn't get over the atmosphere and fans there. Everything was awesome. I definitely liked the defensive schemes for safeties. There is a lot of rotation and opportunity to make plays which is very cool. I think there's a chance if I come in and work hard, I can catch the coach's eye to get some early playing time."
Dempsey gave his visit to Michigan State a solid rating.
"I'd probably say it was around an eight or nine," he said. "It was pretty close to perfect, probably as close as it's going to get. I'd say Michigan State is pulling away for the lead a bit. You know their interest level seems very high.
"I am considering a visit to West Virginia, although I have no idea when it'll happen. I'm also hoping to get in contact with other schools in hopes of getting other things rolling."
