Demon Deacons add Florida OC

After receiving a scholarship last week from Wake Forest, Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles School offensive center Chance Raines made a commitment to the Demon Deacons. The 6-foot-2, 268-pounder selected Wake over offers from South Florida, TCU, Western Michigan and others.
"I committed to coach Elrod yesterday," he said. "He was excited and happy that I was coming. He's glad I'm going to be a part of the team and told me I can look forward to playing with a lot of my friends."

Wake Forest has a few players already on the roster from Bolles including Cannon Gaskin and John Russell.
"I'd say that fact did play a factor in my commitment," he said. "Going to college is a big deal particularly doing it alone. If I've got friends there, that makes the transition from high school a lot easier."
What else did the two-star prospect like about the Demon Deacons?
"It was just a good fit for me that is the only way I can describe it," he said. "It's a great academic program that is not too far from home, it's only about a six hour drive.
"I also like that their coaches are great guys. It's a great staff all the way around and they aren't moving from college to college like other staffs. I like that reassurance."
As far as playing time, Raines will likely redshirt as a freshman.
"I'll probably redshirt because that's what they do with all their players unless they are off the charts. After that, it's up to me."
Raines is hoping to take an official visit to Winston-Salem on February 2nd.
