Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park junior dual-threat quarterback prospect Demetrius Jones (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) has been the talk of some hot rumors this morning. Seems that the rumor mill is firing on all cylinders, claiming that Jones has given a verbal commitment to Notre Dame. Is it true?
"I have not given Notre Dame or anyone else a verbal commitment yet," Jones said. "Things have gotten confused and mixed up after I had a talk with (recent ND commit) James Aldridge on Monday night."
Jones was more than happy to clear up the confusion.
"I met James a few times at different events, so once I heard that he verballed to Notre Dame on Monday I called him on Monday night to give him my best wishes and to congratulate him. We talked for awhile, and he said it would be really cool if we both wound up at Notre Dame next year. He asked me if Notre Dame was at the top of my list, and I told him that they are at the top of my list. I guess people took that the wrong way, because I have a few schools besides Notre Dame at the top of my list."
Jones also had added new scholarship offers on Tuesday.
"Boston College, Purdue and Oregon have all offered me scholarships. USC, Oregon and Purdue were all in school yesterday. Pete Carroll from USC told my coaches that they are really excited about me and that they are going to evaluate my junior tape as a staff and they said they will get back to me shortly."
