DeMatha defense has talent too

After a 12-0 season and state title, head coach Bill McGregor returns plenty of talent on both sides of the ball at Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha. Offensively there's six recruits to watch, while on defense there's at least two.
The first is 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker Ryan Clarke.

"Ryan is a good player that has great potential," he said. "He's already getting looks from the ACC and Big East from schools like Duke, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and others."
Clarke was utilized mostly as a fullback in DeMatha's offense, however he'll get a shot to play linebacker as a senior.
"He's a really good tough football player," he said. "On offense, he's a good blocker that runs hard and has good size and strength. He has all the intangibles to be a very talented linebacker. He works hard, now he just has to show it on the field."
In addition to Clarke, 6-foot-2, 245-pound defensive end Nick Rivers is starting to pick up interest.
"He played defensive end for us and is a good athlete," he said. "He's a tough kid that's been a two year starter for us as a sophomore and junior.
"He's a player that isn't afraid to mix it up with you. He runs pretty well and has good speed and toughness."
Rivers has been receiving interest from the ACC and Big East according to McGregor. He is also a baseball prospect.
