DeMatha 2011 DT is gaining interest

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha is loaded with talent in the 2011 recruiting class. Colleges are quickly taking notice and while a 6-foot-3, 275-pounder hasn't pulled an offer to date, he is getting lots of interest.
"I've been in contact with Maryland a lot," DeMatha junior defensive tackle Darian Cooper said. "I've gone to a lot of their recruiting events. Coach McGregor has told me to watch out for Pittsburgh and Delaware as they are showing interest. I've heard some whispers that Virginia Tech is too."

Does Cooper like anyone in the early going?
"I like Miami and Maryland," he said. "Maryland has been cool. I like Coach Sollazzo and Franklin. I like a lot of schools though.
"I was born in Florida and moved up here when I was 10. I have a lot of family back down there and my family plans to move down there, so that's why I'm interested in schools down there."
In his first year starting as a junior, Cooper impressed.
"I played last year off the bench," he said. "This year I'm a fast player and capable of getting outside on plays. I think I have good chance of direction and I'm really strong.
"I'm still working to be a better student of the game though and improve my pad level."
A versatile athlete, Cooper made it to states in the shot putt last season for track. He also participates in the discuss.
