Delp surprised by Pac-12 offer

Kammy Delp was at the dentist earlier Thursday so when he talked with UCLA assistant coach Adrian Klemm later in the day and got offered, the Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch lineman wanted to make sure it was real.
"I just got back from the dentist and I'm still feeling kind of woozy," Delp said. "I just wanted to make sure they did offer me.

"I'm still excited but I don't want to commit yet. UCLA is a big option for me. My mom is really happy, pretty much crying kind of and my dad is calling the whole family and waking everybody up that I got the offer so it's pretty exciting."
UCLA is a big offer for Delp, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound three-star prospect who can play on either the offensive or defensive line.
He's expected to take an unofficial visit to Westwood on Saturday and he thought an offer could come then but he said Klemm got excited and offered him during Thursday's phone conversation.
"I was just talking with coach Klemm," Delp said. "I was honestly not supposed to get offered over the phone. I was supposed to get offered on Saturday during my unofficial. I guess coach Klemm got overly excited when we were talking about football and he said he's excited and he wanted to offer me on the spot.
"I didn't think they were going to offer me at all, at least not this early, so it's pretty crazy."
The timing is great for Delp, who also has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
The Pomona Diamond Ranch standout thought an offer from UCLA wouldn't come this early but he's definitely happy it did.
"I honestly didn't think this was going to happen," Delp said. "I thought they were going to touch base and keep interested and probably offer later in the season. Getting it this early was pretty crazy."
