Decision nears for four-star receiver

“We met with Coach (Gary) Barnett yesterday,” Joe Mackey, the father of Bakersfield, Calif. four-star wide receiver Blake Mackey, said late last night.
“Coach Barnett was supposed to come over to the house, but we just got to talking at the school and we ended up staying there the whole time talking to him.

“It was a good visit.”
Mackey’s son, who is ranked the No. 9 receiver in the country by Rivals100.com, will take his final official visit to Barnett’s Colorado team this weekend. He has already visited Washington State, Arizona State, Oregon and BYU.
Arizona State is a long-time favorite of Mackey’s. But BYU and Colorado have made serious in-roads during the recruiting process. Expect Mackey to make a decision between ASU, BYU and CU.
“I like Arizona State’s vertical passing game. They showed me how they can get the ball down the field,” Blake Mackey had said two weeks ago in an interview. Blake was at a television show last night and was personally unavailable for comment.
It sounds like Colorado will also have to show Mackey their passing game. And of course, there is the additional fact that the Buffs lose their top three wide receivers to graduation.
“We’re not sure what he’s going to do yet,” Joe said. “Our plan is still the same as it always has been. After he gets back from this last visit, then we’re going to sit down as a family and make a decision.”
