Decision looming for Ohio DE

Akron (Ohio) Hoban defensive end Ryan Thompson is giving serious thought to ending the recruiting process.
"Ryan didn't make it to Miami of Ohio this past weekend," said the father of the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder. "Something else came up and he couldn't make it. Now we have to decide if he takes any more visits or just decides."

Thompson has only been on one official visit so far, a trip to Boston College on Dec. 6. However, he's been to some other schools unofficially and wants to decide soon whether he continues the process.
"He really loved Boston College, it's a great place with a lot to offer," said his father. "He's looking for a smaller school with good academics and BC fits that mold. They also play great football there and the coaches and people are terrific. They're building something and doing really well in Ohio."
So what's holding up a commitment to BC?
"Northwestern was just here at the house and they are also a great school," he said. "But Stanford is really what's holding it up. They are recruiting Ryan very hard and he needs to decide whether to take a trip out there. It's pretty far away so that's a concern and they haven't offered him yet, but everyone tells us it's worth the wait and a trip. If he decides to take that visit, it will probably be on Jan. 10."
The Thompson family should know something soon.
"I think we'll all talk about it during the week and decide whether or not to end things or take some more visits soon," he said. "It wouldn't be about just getting it over with because BC is great. If Ryan feels for sure that Boston College is the place for him, then he'll probably commit."
