DE Tyler makes his pick

Three-star defensive end Dontez Tyler out of Ahoskie (N.C.) Hertford County made his selection earlier today. Who did the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder commit to?
"I committed to Maryland," he said. "I told Coach Bankins, he was very excited.

"He told me he wanted me to come to a game and talk to the coaches some more, he wants to talk to me more about the football program too.
"He also wants me to come up as soon as possible so I can start to relate to my other teammates."
Tyler broke down why he selected the Terrapins.
"I just fell in love with Maryland," he said. "They showed me the most interest and I like the educational opportunities. I'm looking to study criminology.
"As for football, I can see the type of team the are going to have and I like the facilities there."
Maryland recruited Tyler as a defensive end.
"They haven't talked about playing time at this moment, but I want to redshirt so I can gain some weight."
The lineman is pleased to have the decision behind him.
"Overall I'm just really excited."
Tyler held offers from Arkansas, East Carolina and Virginia as well.
