DE stock heats up as offers come in

Defensive end/tight end Michael Shelton (6-4, 235, 4.7) from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez has his recruiting off to a fine start. Shelton has four written offers and once the word gets out on him, he will certainly have a lot more.
Shelton was selected all-league and all-area as a junior after racking approximately 75 tackles, 13 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and three fumbles caused.

Oregon State, Arizona, Washington and San Diego State have sent Shelton handwritten offers.
At this time Shelton has an early favorite list that consists of Arizona, Washington, Oregon State, Oregon, USC and San Diego State.
Shelton has a non-stop motor and he plays hard every down, whistle-to-whistle. He has an excellent first-step and he gets underneath pad level before an opponent can react making Shelton very hard to block.
Shelton played strong side defensive end as junior and he had to fight double teams all season long.
This coming fall in 2004, Dominguez will line up Shelton on the weak side of the line to se if they can win the match up war.
The thinking is they may be able to get Shelton in more one-on-situations.
Shelton is also an outstanding tight end but he looks like he will end up as a tight end on the next level.
Shelton benches 260, was timed in the shuttle at 4.6 and recorded 31-inch vertical jump.
A good student, Shelton carries a 2.9 GPA.
Shelton’s stock is just beginning to heat up. He is definitely one to keep your eye this fall.
