Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge defensive end Brian Slay acquired his first offer not too long ago. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder picked up a scholarship from the ACC, but it isn't in-state.
"North Carolina State is my only offer right now," he said. "I picked that up last week. I've already done a little research on them and I like them a lot.
"I know they don't have too many defensive ends. That means I might get a chance to play early, hopefully by my sophomore year if I were to go there. I also like their coaching staff. They did a good job at Boston College. They know how to recruit."
Slay believes a second offer could be coming in the near future.
"I'm hearing from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech and Georgia," he stated. "Georgia Tech seems to be very close to offering just from what I'm hearing from my coach."
With one offer in hand, does Slay have a favorite?
"I really need to take my visits and see what everything is like," he said. "I'm looking for a good campus, great coaching staff and a nice atmosphere at the place. I want a place that makes me feel at home."
Slay plans to start looking for that comfort in the near future.
"I'm going to Maryland for a junior day next weekend and then I'm going down to NC State on March 1st for a junior day. I just want to see what the campus and everything is like."
Slay also mentioned he plans to participate in the Nike Combine in Baltimore later this spring.
Last season Slay earned second team all-state honors as he finished the year with 64 tackles and six sacks.
