DE Shaughnessy takes local trip

Norwich (Conn.) Norwich Free Academy defensive end Matt Shaughnessy took his fourth official visit this week when he tripped to UConn. How did that visit go and who leads for his services?
"UConn was a very good visit, much better than I expected," said the 6-foot-6, 210-pounder. "I had a lot of different hosts and was excited to see how far they've come in a short time."

UConn is now right in the mix along with Purdue, Wisconsin, Boston College and Michigan State.
"MSU is my last visit this weekend," he said. "After that I'll make my decision. I have an idea of who it is, but I need to do some more thinking."
Coaches will try to help Shaughnessy think as well. Coach Tom O'Brien (Boston College) will be in his house Thursday night, coach Joe Tiller (Purdue) comes in Sunday and coach Randy Edsall (UConn) is in on Monday. Is there anything fans can read into those visits?
"No, the coaches just called as said they're coming and we agreed," he said. "Coach Palermo was here from Wisconsin this week, it'll be busy."
Shaughnessy is ranked as the No. 28 weakside defensive end in the country.
