DE McAndrew talks recruiting

Glenbard West High School (Ill.) defensive end/tight end prospect Tom McAndrew (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) has continued to draw recruiting interest during the May evaluation period, and McAndrew fills us in and sets the record straight on his recruiting.
"Things have been going very well," Tom McAndrew said. "I've gotten calls from Iowa, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Kansas and Brown as well as calls from a bunch of schools so far."

McAndrew talked about his recent unofficial visit to Northwestern University. "I went up to Northwestern a few nights ago for a junior day event. It was a very small gathering of players, and they really rolled out the carpet for us. We were able to talk to all of the coaches and some of the players, and Northwestern also had the athletic director there as well as several faculty members. The focus was on academics, and I really was able to get a better idea of what a degree from Northwestern really means. I came away very impressed with Wildcat football."
Glenbard West has also been busy with in school visits from college coaches. "We basically have had tons of college coaches that have made in school visits. It seems like every day we have a few more coaches stopping in school, and I couldn't even begin to try to remember who's been in school over the last few weeks. It be very exciting and very flattering for myself and my teammates."
So does McAndrew have any favorites at this point? "I talked to a college coach about that the other night. I told him that in all honesty I have no favorites at all, and that I remain very open at this point. I like several different schools for several different reasons, and for me to even consider narrowing my list at this point doesn't make any sense. I'm looking at every school, and eventually I'll narrow things down."
