Position: Wide Receiver/Safety
Size and Speed: Stroud stands 6-foot-1, weighs 180 pounds and has been timed electronically in the 40 in 4.5. His bench is 240, clean 230 and squat is 360. Stroud he has recorded an outstanding vertical jump of 40-inches.
Honors: N/A.
Statistics: Stroud didn’t a lot of chances as wide receiver to catch the ball as a junior since he was third choice on team that had budding superstar junior wide receiver Cameron Colvin and senior De’Montae Fitzgerald.
Favorite Colleges: Stroud is hearing from Iowa, USC, UCLA, Cal and Arizona State.
Skinny: One thing count on about Concord De La Salle is their honesty. When De La Salle tells you they have prospect you can take it to the bank. De La Salle is about as about good with their projections of prospects as they are at winning football games (138 in a row and counting). So when they tell you they have a sleeper with considerable talent then you listen.
A player that the brass at De La Salle feels has a great chance at making a splash on the next level is wide receiver/safety Alex Stroud.
Stroud is very athletic, aggressive and physical. He is very explosive player with great leaping ability. Quite frankly this guy can jump out of the gym as his 40-inch vertical proves.
Stroud played quite a bit last season rarely was the ball thrown his way. This season Stroud will see more than his fair share of passes this season. He is a fine wide receiver who will be able to showcase his talent for his senior season.
Stroud firmly has bought into the De La Salle system of team first. It’s not about stats it’s about performance and doing whatever it takes to help the team.
“I didn’t get many passes thrown my way last season,” Stroud said. “That was okay because I became a very good blocker.”
Definitely put Stroud on your list of players to keep an eye on this fall.
