DE Johnson moving on

Raymore (Mo.) Raymore-Peculiar defensive lineman Josh Johnson was one of Kansas State first commitments, pledging to Ron Prince's staff back on June 6.
Johnson thought he would still be a Wildcat even though Bill Snyder took over as the coach in December, but he received news this week that will have him going a different direction.

"Kansas State called my coach and told him they weren't going to honor the scholarship anymore, so I need to change my status," Johnson said. "I'm no longer committed to K-State. Jay Kaiser, who had been handling my recruiting since coach Prince left, said they weren't going to still take me."
Johnson, who is 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, has been listed as a soft commitment to the Wildcats ever since Snyder took over because he was unsure where he stood with the new Wildcat coaches. Now he knows he will have to move a different direction.
"I'm not really hearing from anybody else," he said.
"So I guess I need get it out there that I'm open again."
