DE impressed with Ole Miss win

Batesville (Miss.) South Panola strongside defensive end Peria Jerry doesn’t like to talk much about himself. He’s not big on bragging and he definitely doesn’t do much trash talking off the field. Instead of focusing on the extra stuff, the 6-foot-2, 260-pound three-star selection just goes about his business and helps his team win.
And win, his team definitely does.

“We’re 6-0,” Jerry, ranked as the No. 31 strongside defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com, said. “I think I’ve been playing pretty fair. I’m a tough critic on myself, and I’m never satisfied. I think I probably have about three sacks, but I’m going up against double teams all the time. I guess it does take two of them to stop me.”
Come on, Peria, brag a little more about yourself. What do you do best on the football field?
“Really, I just love to tackle and play football,” he said. “I’ll do whatever it takes. I just love to play football.”
Jerry said he’s hoping to play in college someday. He’s been getting regular calls from Ole Miss, West Virginia and Louisville.
“I talked to Ole Miss about getting a scholarship and I also talked to Mississippi State, too,” Jerry said. “That’s about it right now, but I’m still open to about anybody. I’m kind of excited about this. I really don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Jerry has visited Ole Miss twice this season for games. He said he watched the Rebels big win over Florida last weekend on TV and he was pleasantly surprised.
“I didn’t think they were going to win, but when they pulled it out, I was excited for them,” Jerry said.
