Defensive end Michael Shelton (6-3, 211, 4.78) from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez has had a great summer improving his stock while camping at USC and San Diego State. He impressed staff members and onlookers alike at both camps.
Shelton was named co-defensive line MVP at USC and was the defensive line MVP at San Diego State.
As a junior, Shelton was selected all-league and all-area after accounting for 75 tackles, 13 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and three fumbles caused.
So far he has offers from Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State and San Diego State. USC, Notre Dame and Tennessee are also recruiting Shelton but haven’t offered yet.
“Right now my two favorite schools are USC and Oregon State,” Shelton said. “I like USC a lot. I also like Washington and Arizona.”
Shelton will probably keep his options open until the end of the season. He wants to see what other schools will show interest.
For his upcoming senior season, Shelton could also see a lot of action on the offensive side of the ball as a tight end and fullback.
If USC were to offer Shelton there could be a swift end to his recruitment. Shelton grew up a USC fan.
Oregon State is a very close second and could give USC a run for their money.
“I like the coaches of both schools,” Shelton said. “Oregon State has also had players from my school before and still has one and they all liked it up there.”
