Skinny: Growing up in Louisiana many players dream one day of playing in Death Valley and in front of the home-state fans for the LSU Tigers and Amite (La.) Sumner defensive end Michael McCabe is no exception.
He grew up a Tiger fan and lists LSU as his No. 1 team heading into the recruiting process.
In fact, the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder will camp this summer in Baton Rouge and he also lists former Tiger star Bradie James as his sports idol. So does McCabe have a little James in him?
“I think I do,” he said. “I’m aggressive and smart, just like him.”
McCabe plays middle linebacker for Sumner but knows that he’s likely to play with his hand on the ground in college and that’s not a big deal to him. He said he’s indentified other factors that will be important in his final decision.
“The location and if it’s close to home will be key for me,” he said.
“I also want to play at a school that has a good overall sports program and good academics, too.”
