DE Cumbie hits the road

Morris (Ill.) junior defensive end prospect Jamie Cumbie (6-foot-7, 255 pounds) as you read this is in the family car, heading towards the Carolina's for a family event this coming weekend.
"I'll be on the road with my family starting on Wednesday morning," Cumbie said. "My brother is getting married in North Carolina, so we're heading out for the wedding. I'm also going to get an unofficial visit to Clemson while I'm in the Carolina's."

Cumbie is looking forward to making the trip to a much warmer climate.
"I've been practicing for baseball this spring at Morris, and it's been pretty cold here. I'm going to miss some practices this week but it's for a good reason. I'm planning to come back on Monday next week because I'm set to pitch on Tuesday against Ottawa. I'm looking forward to hitting some warmer weather this week in Carolina, that's for sure. I'm hoping to get a chance to just relax and enjoy visiting with my family for a few days."
Cumbie, who is still touting early offers from Clemson, Notre Dame, Illinois, Purdue and Northwestern, has started to receive hand-written mail on nearly a daily basis.
"I've been seeing more and more hand-written mail over the last few weeks. USC, Tennessee and Iowa have really started to send regular hand-written things along with the schools that have already offered me."
Cumbie won't be able to hit the road very hard this spring because of his baseball season, yet Cumbie is just excited to play ball for now.
"I was able to check out a handful of junior days and those visits went well, I might try to check out a few additional schools this spring, but it all depends on my baseball schedule. I'm just hoping that I can bring back some spring weather from the Carolina's, because I'm excited to get the baseball season started."
