Defensive end Quinton Coples out of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy wraps up his season this weekend. With that in mind, is the 6-foot-7, 235-pounder beginning to focus on recruiting?
"Recruiting hasn't really picked up yet," he said. "I haven't talked to too many coaches. I talk to North Carolina some and a bunch of other coaches. A lot of that should be happening in the next few weeks after the season.
"Right now the only visit I know about is a trip to Florida State sometime in December. I can't remember the date."
Clearly, Coples doesn't have any favorites at this time. He did however discuss what he wants in a college.
"Particularly, I'm looking for a place they'll play me and I can get an education first," he said. "I want somewhere I'm comfortable and a place that fits me best. I'd like to have a great environment where I feel at home and a winning mentality amongst the coaches. I'll look at what they did in the past and are trying to do in the future."
Wherever Coples ends up, he confirmed that he plans to wait until May.
The four-star prospect is still a bit away from focusing on recruiting. This season though has been a good one for the end.
"Everything is going great," he said. "We're getting better and better. I'm on a very talented team and being here helped me learn a lot about life in general.
"I'm improved a lot in my experience of the game, how I make moves and get off people. I'm better about getting around players and use my body more."
Coples has posted eight sacks this season.
