DE commits to Terps

Less than a week after Maryland stud defensive end Dane Randolph committed to Maryland, another local star has done the same.
"George committed to Maryland," said Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt head coach Rick Houchens. "He felt the most comfortable with the coaches and the university and was ready to make his decision early."

Covington, a 6-foot-3, 230-pounder, also had offers from Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke, Colorado and others.
"He's a defensive lineman who can play anywhere along the line," said Houchens. "He could play inside or out or even play linebacker, he's that quick. He's terrific against the run and is a great pass rusher. He's one of the reasons why Derrick Harvey is so successful."
As a junior defensive end Covington recorded about 90 tackles with 12 sacks. Covington was an all-county selection last season.
