DE Basil takes two visits

Defensive end Tahir Basil out of Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic took two unofficial visits in the past few days. The 6-foot-2, 256-pounder made his way to Penn State and Rutgers recently and will head out on more visits soon.
"Everything is going well," he said. "I just went up to Rutgers last week and Penn State on Saturday.

"They both were really nice. I went to practices and that made me want to get back in pads. I liked all the facilities and environment at Penn State. It's not a city. You don't have to look over your shoulder. I had a good time there.
"Rutgers was about the same thing. The coaches were really nice to me and talked to me about how I fit in on the defense. Both also want me to come to camps."
Is there an early leader for Basil?
"If I was to root for a team it would be Penn State since they are my home team," he said. "I'm really open to any college that gives me a scholarship. I'm looking for a good environment and a nice education. I think I'd like to go into civil engineering or counseling."
Last season the lineman prospect helped Roman Catholic to a state championship.
"I didn't start, but subbed in and finished with 37 tackles, eight sacks, three forced fumbles and two recoveries," he said. "I earned honorable mention all-league honors."
