DC tackle heads West

Offensive tackle Earl Johnson out of Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy wrapped up a decision earlier this week. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder is headed West.
"He committed to New Mexico two days ago," Friendship Collegiate Academy head coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim said. "I would say it was definitely his relationship with Mike Locksley.

"Definitely with his connections, he's a real easy going guy and kids are drawn to him. He's easy to get along with and he's got an edge to him that kids relate to as opposed to other coaches."
A few other factors played into as well for the two-star prospect.
"I think he felt more like he fit in the Mountain West than other places. He enjoyed his visit out there and the weather. They are a big draw and about the only sports entity there.
"I think it's a good addition for them. He's a kid that they can develop."
Meanwhile, Johnson's teammate, Tyrone Armstrong continues to sit on three offers from Eastern Michigan, Maine and New Hampshire, but more interest is coming.
"Temple and Connecticut are real close and then a lot of the CAA are close too," he said. "We'll know more on them next week. If Connecticut offers that's where he'll commit. They are evaluating and we should hear back next week."
