DC safety claims favorites

Two-sport star Cameron Johnson out of Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga has yet to make the decision on whether to play football or basketball at the next level. Instead, the 6-foot-4, 228-pounder is considering the possibility of playing both sports in college.
"I've only got offers from the mid-majors in basketball, so it's really up in the air," he said. "I'd prefer to do both sports in college if I could.

"Right now Virginia, Illinois and Boston College are the only ones talking about that option. Virginia told me if I came to play football, I'd be able to start on the basketball team, while Illinois and Boston College just asked if I was interested in playing both."
Currently Johnson holds football offers from Maryland, Virginia, Duke, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Illinois and Syracuse.
Does the safety have any favorites?
"I like Virginia because they are letting me play both," he said. "They are at the top of my list. They have good academics and a solid sports program. They are also close, but not too close.
"Right up there would be Maryland. I've always liked them, they are my hometown team. I like the coaches recruiting me from there. If they offered basketball too, that would change things a lot more possibly."
With two favorites already announced and offers in-hand from both schools, is Johnson close to a decision?
"I probably won't decide until the football season, I want to take official visits first."
