DC athlete claims first offer

Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High athlete Charles Brown claims his first offer. The 5-foot-10, 197-pounder is garnering attention from a variety of other schools as well.
"I got my first offer from Kansas State," he stated. "They offered me a couple weeks ago. I really like Coach Cosh as a person. He seems like a good guy and a good coach. He's been recruiting me since my freshman year and the fact he is at Kansas State is really big.

"I don't know too much about their program, but I'm trying to make their spring game on May 2nd."
Brown believes more offers could be coming soon.
"I'm hoping to get one from Maryland and I've been talking to NC State and North Carolina a lot," he said. "I'm also hearing from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Penn State, Rutgers and Notre Dame."
The D.C. prospect is coming off visits to Maryland and North Carolina this past weekend.
"Maryland was good," he said. "I talked to the defensive back coach. Then I went to North Carolina and they really liked me. They want me to come to their one day camp."
With interest picking up, what does Brown want in a college?
"I want a school with good academics. I'm looking to study something in math," he stated. "I want a good football team and a nice social life and atmosphere."
A versatile prospect, Brown earned third team all-conference at tailback as a junior posting 609-yards rushing, 300-yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns. He added 700-yards on returns and posted 57 tackles, 16 pass breakups, seven tackles for loss and three interceptions.
"I was the team captain and did pretty well," he said. "I think I showed I'm a team leader on and off the field."
