DB Thomas updates recruitment

Virginia Beach (Va.) Kempsville safety Mason Thomas holds four offers. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder is planning to head out on his first official visit next week. Where is he going?
"I know I'm taking an official to Old Dominion on the 10th, next week," he said. "That is my first official and I'm kind of excited.

"I want to go to talk with their academic people and get my officials started."
Thomas is looking at other visits.
"I was going to call the coach from Delaware," he said. "I'm hopefully going to set one up with them. I hope to set one up with Virginia also."
Previously Thomas expected to hear back from the Cavaliers by late November, what is his status with them?
"I haven't heard back from them, I'm still kind of waiting," he said. "I just finished my highlight tape and it's probably going out Monday."
A couple other schools have come into the picture for the two-star prospect including James Madison and Marshall.
With interest growing, does he like anybody?
"I'm waiting to see what transpires," he said. "I am thinking about staying in-state. I'm from Virginia and if you stay in-state people can follow you easier than going out of state."
Thomas and Kempsville wrapped up the season with a 4-6 record. In the season finale, the team blew out Princess Anne 63-32.
"I think we fought back pretty strong. The last game was really like the highlight of how I believe our season should have gone. Everything was just clicking on offense and the defensive line was playing well. We sent the seniors out with a bang."
Thomas specifically earned second team all-Beach honors and honorable mention all-Beach as a wide receiver after posting 72 tackles, two interceptions and two touchdowns.
"As a player, I do feel like I evolved," he said. "I became way more of a leader from last year. I feel like I was more of an asset to the team."
