DB Thomas takes a visit, eyes an official

The season is wrapping up for Virginia Beach (Va.) Kempsville safety Mason Thomas. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder took an unofficial visit this past weekend and is eyeing an official to one of his offers later this month.
"I went to Virginia this past weekend," he said. "I checked out their game, the game was awesome. They played Miami and came out with that win. The defense played really solid. I think they had four picks and were a big part of beating Miami."

The Cavaliers continue to keep an eye on the two-star prospect.
"I talked to the coaches, Coach West said I'm still on their radar as a recruit right now," he said. "I'm kind of playing the waiting game with them. He told me he couldn't say anything, but just to wait it out. I believe I should know something by the end of November."
Meanwhile, Thomas holds offers from Delaware, Kent State, Norfolk State and Old Dominion. He's also receiving interest from James Madison and Connecticut.
"I've been meaning to get a highlight tape up to JMU," he said. "The coaches from Connecticut were down and are taking a look."
As for more visits, Thomas plans to head to Kent State soon.
"I think I'm going to Kent around the end of their season in about three weeks, that'll be for an official visit."
In terms of the season, Thomas and Kempsville wrap up the year on Friday against Princess Anne.
"The season hasn't been what we wanted," he said. "I just want to go out with a bang and finish hard, do it for the seniors on the team, for our school and our coaching staff.
"I think this year I became even more of a leader on the field and off the field. I improved as that vocal guy and was always going hard every single play."
