A dozen prospects in the 2019 class at Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco have landed offers through the season and one of the best is cornerback Paul Edwards.
The junior standout first landed an offer from Utah. It was a big one, and an important one, and now another Pac-12 school - UCLA - has offered.
Edwards has a longstanding relationship with the Bruins’ coaching staff, especially defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin, and the offer is definitely big early in his recruitment.
“Coach (Martin) has been recruiting me for a while now so I already have a pretty solid relationship with him,” Edwards said. “He decided to pull the trigger and offer me.”
Oftentimes, prospects talk about dream schools and an immediate frontrunner but for Edwards, it’s definitely different with UCLA.
He had an excellent experience in Westwood as a young prospect, he’s remembered it as he’s entered high school and the Bruins definitely look like a big-time contender early on.
“In youth ball when I was 11 years old my coach took the whole team to visit UCLA at one of the Jim Mora camps and it was amazing to experience at a young age and it’s been my dream since then,” Edwards said.
“Very excited for this.”
Other than the offers from UCLA and Utah, the 2019 standout from St. John Bosco has been receiving interest from Colorado, USC and Cal.
