DB Has Solid Top Five

One of the top players in the Northeast is defensive back Cory Boyd and he already has quite a few offers. His list has been trimmed to five and he has a couple of official visits set up.
"My top five schools are Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Virginia, Maryland and Boston College," said the 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety. "I was looking at schools like Rutgers and South Carolina but not as much anymore. I would like to take all my officials to my favorites and right now I'm pretty confident with my top five."

Boyd knows what he wants in a school.
"I like schools that put players in the NFL and I like to see physical defensive backs, because that's what I am. I feel like I'm on a mission when the ball is in the air or on the ground. Get to wherever the ball is as fast as I can, make a big hit, and knock the ball loose."
Not only does Boyd love to lay out some big hits from the secondary, but he has a knack for causing turnovers. He picked off eight passes last year. And he's not only a safety, but one of the top running backs from New Jersey. As a junior, the Orange, N.J. star rushed for 1,736 yards and 24 touchdowns. Boyd runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and plays tough on both sides of the ball.
"I've got a lot of offers right now," said Boyd. "All my favorites have offered me, and that's really all that matters for now. I've scheduled official visits to a couple of schools so far. I'll be at Wisconsin on Dec. 20 and Virginia on Jan. 17. I would like to schedule three more trips and then I'll be closer to making a final decision. So far the entire process has been a good experience for me."
