In His Own Words

“Earlier that day I had a FaceTime call with Coach Drinkall and my mom,” Turner explained. “Coach Drinkall said I could call and tell him (Monken) right after or whenever I was ready. So After the call I talked with my mom and coach and decided to call that day.”

“I called and said I had great news for him (Monken) and he said ‘I’m due for a birthday present’. I told him I wanted to call you personally to tell you I would like to commit to Army West Point.”

Deciding Factors

Turner pointed out to GBK that there were various factors leading up to his decision, although he had never stepped foot on the United States Military Academy at West Point “campus”.

“The deciding factor was that I had not been there before or seen anything on campus but Coach Drinkell send me a virtual tour of the campus and I loved it,” declared Turner. “Plus they were interested on making my life successful with or without football.”

“And I think my defensive style will fit perfectly, because that’s the defense I run at my high school.”

2019 Season

For DeHarper Woods High School’s 2019 campaign, they played an abbreviated schedule, where they did not have a have week 3 or 6. In addition, Harper missed two games due to a thigh injury.

His junior year saw him accumulate 25 Tackles,12 PBU, 4 interceptions in those 6 games he played.

Versatility

In addition to being a solid pass defender and run stopper as both a cornerback and safety, Turner also starts on the offensive side of the ball at running back. Couple that with his track abilities, where he runs the 100M and 200M, with a personal best in the 100m of a blazing 10.9 ... one can see that the Black Knights have made their 2021 kick-off commitment, a special one.
