DB changes commitment

Often recruits are so impressed after a visit to one of their favorite schools that they may pull the trigger quickly and make a decision too soon. Such was the case for Delton Ashburn. He has de-committed from Louisville and and is now committed to Syracuse.
"He made the decision too quickly," said Delton's father. "He shouldn't have committed on the trip to Louisville. We visited Syracuse this last weekend to see the game against Miami and we enjoyed it. He committed on his visit."

So, after committing to Louisville last weekend and now to Syracuse, will this one stick for the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder?
"This isn't the same situation as the Louisville commitment. Delton can't change his mind anymore and he knows that. You have to be firm in what you say sometimes. We had a good time, and that's where Delton wants to play. He's definitely a solid commitment for Syracuse. The recruiting process from here on is closed."
Ashburn has returned to Fork Union (Va.) Fork Union Military Academy and goes back as one of the leaders on their state championship squad. For the year he intercepted five passes, rushed for five touchdowns and took one kickoff return for a score.
"We got a chance to talk to Coach White (tight ends coach at Syracuse) and we liked speaking to him," said Ashburn's father. "He's the recruiting coach for this area. He was straight up with us. He said they're a really young team and need some help in the secondary and they feel Delton can come in and help them. They love his speed and think he has good potential.
"It was snowing up there and being from Virginia we don't see that much. But when you like Syracuse as much as we do you have to deal with little things like that. We'll even learn to like it," he laughed.
