School: Baytown (Texas) Lee

Position: Defensive Back
Size and Speed: Godfrey is 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds. He has been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.45 seconds.
Favorite Schools: Godfrey is getting attention from Baylor, Colorado, Iowa and Kansas State among others.
Skinny: Godfrey has already seen first hand how the recruiting process goes, having watched his older brother go through it several years ago.
"Charles is Ell's (Roberson) brother," Baytown Lee coach Dick Olin said. "He saw how Ell handled things with the schools he was recruited by and having him end up at K-State. So it won't be completely new to him."
Godfrey played wide receiver for the Ganders at the beginning of his junior year, but changed positions later in the year.
"Charles had a problem catching the ball," Olin said. "He kept dropping them. So I told him he wasn't going to play. Then I realized he was too good of an athlete to have on the bench. So, we found a place to get him out there."
That place was cornerback.
"He played the corner last year, but I look for him to switch over to safety. He is a very good athlete. We want him on the field. He's handled the switch to defense very well."
As for schools expressing interest it is really rather slow right now.
"We are just starting to get his name and information out to schools. It will pick up for him as soon as we get him out there some more. Right now, Baylor, Colorado, Iowa and Kansas State are expressing some interest."
