DB Baines impressed by Maryland

Maryland's coaching staff was happy to see Vorhees (N.J.) Eastern junior cornerback Ronald Baines on their campus recently.
The Terrapins haven't extended an offer to the 6-foot, 179-pound cornerback -- yet, at least.

Baines had a great time on the Maryland campus with his parents, and if the Terps do decide to offer they could be tough to beat.
"I actually just took a visit to Maryland around two weeks ago for a spring practice," Baines recalled. "It was basically a junior day. We got to see the facilities and it seems like a good place. I liked it a lot and I liked the campus a lot. It's a real nice place.
"My parents went down with me and they liked the placed, too. It's a safe environment. You can't really get into a lot of places on the campus unless you're (a student), which was good.
"The coaches said they want me to come to the camp and do some 1-on-1's with the receivers, and that we'll see where I stand after that."
Baines will be a busy man for the next little while, as he plans on visiting Penn State, Michigan and South Carolina before too long. He also wants to visit North Carolina, but he hasn't formalized plans to check the Tar Heels out.
"I'm really interested in them, too," he said of UNC. "I sent coach Zac Roper from Duke my film, too, but I haven't heard a response yet.
"I don't have any favorites yet. I'm keeping everything open until at least the beginning of my senior season."
