Dawgs or Gamecocks for Carlos Brown

Franklin (Ga.) Heard County running back/athlete Carlos Brown has a tough decision to make on Monday. Does he want to continue an excellent running back tradition at Georgia or become a do-everything offensive player for South Carolina? Either way the No. 32 player in the country will have the football in his hands often, it just depends on how quickly he wants to touch it.

Mark Richt wants Brown to be his go-to-guy, a running back big enough to take SEC punishment for 25 carries a game, fast enough to elude and run away from speedy defenders and with soft enough hands to play all three downs. Brown has the ability to do the first two and the third will likely come with time, so he's a good fit for what Georgia wants. Thomas Brown and Danny Ware will both be entering their junior years next season, so Brown might have to wait his turn. That is likely the only drawback for Brown with the Dawgs.

Steve Spurrier wants Brown to be a "Slash" kind of player for South Carolina, a guy who can play some quarterback, wide receiver, running back and get on the return team as well. That has to be interesting to Brown who currently handles the ball all the time in high school as a quarterback. South Carolina is also selling the chance to make a legacy, to become one of the greatest players in Gamecock history, something Brown has a much better chance at in Columbia. The drawbacks? South Carolina isn't the school every Georgia kid dreams of playing for and Spurrier doesn't have a track record of using players in a "Slash" role.

So who will the nation's No. 5 running back choose? The guess here is that the pride of playing for his home state school and family preference will win out. He'll be a Bulldog.
