Davis preparing for officials

ARLINGTON, Texas - With early recruiting becoming the norm there are only a handful of uncommitted prospects among the 80 or so players in this week's Offense-Defense Bowl.
One of the undecided players is Gaffney, S.C. wide receiver Quinshad Davis. In fact, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound four-star prospect has yet to use any of his official visits. That will change soon though.

"I haven't taken any just yet," Davis said of his officials. "I have them all set up for January. I'm going to Wake (Forest) on the 13, Tennessee on the 20 and Ole Miss on the 27."
Though the trio of schools will be receiving visits from Davis he says they are by no means the only three programs he is still considering.
"Those aren't my three finalists or anything," he said. "They're just the schools I'm going to visit. I'm still looking at Tennessee, Wake, Ole Miss, Illinois, NC State, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia and some others.
"I've already visited South Carolina and Clemson a bunch of times since they're close to home. I just wanted to go out of state for some visits."
Davis hopes to make a commitment after his final official visit.
"I want to make it in January some time," he said. "I don't want to wait all the way until signing day if I don't have to. I'd like to get it all over with sometime in January."
With signing day a little over a month away Davis says he has no current list of favorites.
"Not right now," he said. "As things go along I will probably be able to narrow it down a bit."
Interestingly enough, as most in his state have allegiances to either Clemson or South Carolina, Davis says he is actually a longtime fan of an out-of-state program.
"I honestly didn't grow up a fan of either of the in-state schools," he said. "I was actually a big Florida Gator fan but they're not really recruiting me."
