Davis nearing Jacket offer

Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge running back Brandon Davis, a Rivals250 to watch selection for the Class of 2008, took an unofficial visit to an in-state Atlantic Coast Conference program for an unofficial visit Saturday.
"I went down to Georgia Tech for a visit on Saturday and it went very well," Davis said.

The Yellow Jackets could be close to offering the 5-foot-9, 190-pounder a scholarship.
"They have been showing a lot of interest lately, so I wanted to go down and visit and see the coaches," he said. "I met Coach Chan Gailey, Coach Charles Kelly (Recruiting Coach for Davis' area), and Coach Curtis Modkins (running backs coach) while I was there. I got a chance to talk with them and they told me that they were very impressed with my tape."
Gailey told Davis he reminded him of a recent Georgia Tech standout.
"He told me I reminded him of P.J. Daniels, so I think that is a good thing," he said. "They all said they were impressed and I think they could be close to pulling the trigger with an offer. They liked me on film, so I got a chance to meet them in person, so I think that will help. I will just have to wait and see what happens, but I think they are close to offering."
Davis, who holds offers from South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Maryland and Central Florida, said in closing that he is still open and he is not sure where he will visit next.
