Neptune, New Jersey running back Charles Davis does not want the recruiting process to drag on for months, so he is thinking about making a decision in the near future.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back does not have a timetable for when he wants to make his decision, but it could be coming before too long.
"There are no new schools right now," Davis said. "I kind of want to get it over and done with, so I'm thinking about maybe committing somewhere real soon. I guess a lot of schools heard that I might be committing to Rutgers so I started getting e-mails from coaches saying, 'No, don't do it.'
"A lot of them want me to give them a call so I'll hear what they have to say. I really don't have a certain date picked but I do want to get it over and done with soon."
Considering the fact that Rutgers is the only school that has offered Davis a scholarship it's a good bet that the Scarlet Knights are in the driver's seat. He and Miles Shuler recently visited the school to get a feel for what spring practice is like.
"Practice was good. It was very intense," he noted. "We hung out afterward a little bit and mingled with the coaches and stuff like that. We had a nice time. Practice was very intense. Guys are definitely working hard."
Davis said Iowa, Pitt, Maryland and Duke are the other schools that have shown the most interest to date.
