Davis inches through offseason

Ryan Davis has his share of scholarship offers, twenty of them to be exact. What the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood High School athlete doesn't have, however, is much to say about the future direction of his recruitment.
Favorites? Not a one. Plans to trim his list? Not in the near future. Upcoming visits? There's very little on the schedule.

"I'm going to try to take some visits this summer," Davis said. "Possibly I'll go to Miami, but I don't know any others right now. I guess that's the only one I know I want to take."
Davis' wide-open approach to visits functions as a microcosm of his recruitment as a whole. He doesn't make many bold claims and doesn't tip his hand when it comes to the direction in which he may be leaning.
Even when asked which schools are recruiting him the hardest, Davis finds a way to use words to say next to nothing.
"Pretty much everybody is recruiting me the same," he said. "It's constant contact. I'm trying to make a relationship with every close and every team that has offered me."
Davis has visited Florida State and USF so far, but hasn't been on a campus trip is quite some time. His visit to the Seminoles' campus came just after the 2013 season, but the impression it made on the three-star athlete remains fresh.
Davis, who grew up a Florida State fan, admits that visits to Tallahassee always seem to have a special feel.
"I'd been there before, but it was good again," Davis said. "It's always good up there. You could say I'm a fan of them. I just like getting to talk to the coaches. And I hang out with a player I know that plays there right now."
Davis, who sets no timetable for a verbal commitment, says USC, Stanford and Duke have entered his recruitment as of late but are yet to make things official with scholaship offers.
