Denver (Colo.) Montbello four-star receiver Drew Davis is the first to admit that his senior season did not go the way he wanted it to. With a new coach in place and the storied Denver program going through a transition, Davis didn't have a chance to make a ton of big plays. However, he hopes he can change that as a game-breaking receiver for the West squad in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.
"My first thought when I heard about the invitation was that I'm going to have a chance to play with other great players and play with some of the top quarterbacks in the country," Davis said.
"It's a very exciting thing. I really wanted a chance to let people notice my talent in an All-America game, and I couldn't think of a better place to do it at than in Fort Lauderdale, Fla."
The 6-foot, 210-pound Davis offered up a scouting report for those that haven't seen him play. The all-star game is being televised live on ESPNU.
"They're going to see something new, something you don't see every day," Davis said. "I'm a physical player. I'm a hard blocker that runs good routes and can explode quickly and make a big play. I'm going to be the guy that you talk about the next day."
What people have been talking about recently is Davis' recruiting status. He has gone back and forth on quite a few teams over the past few weeks, but now he's solid on a final five.
"Right now, I have a solid five," Davis said. "After thinking about things for quite a while, I'm pretty sure and solid on my group. I'm down to Cal, UCLA, Washington, Oregon and Georgia Tech. That final five isn't going to change."
Davis has visits lined up to Washington this upcoming weekend, Oregon on Nov. 17, UCLA on Dec. 2 and Georgia Tech on Dec. 9. He has not yet lined up an official visit with Cal, and Colorado is no longer on his final list.
