Davis forming rough visit plans

Anthony Davis is taking a measured approach to his recruitment. The Lakeland (Fla.) High School running back is just a junior but already holds more than 10 scholarship offers. That said, he's staying as neutral as possible.

A frontrunner? Davis declines to name one. He even shies away from listing a small group of standouts. Instead, all he offers in a cluster of programs that seem to be recruiting him the hardest.
"Right now, it's mainly West Virginia, Oklahoma, Clemson and Texas Tech," Davis said. "I probably talk to them the most."
According to Davis the message from those schools is mostly the same. Even at this early juncture, getting the four-star tailback on a campus visit seems to be of paramount importance to every involved party.
"They are all just telling me to come up for a game, but I'm going to wait until after the year for visits," Davis said.
A Rivals100 prospect in the class of 2017, Davis has already visited schools such as Clemson, Auburn, and Florida. He intends to West Virginia Oklahoma and Alabama sometime in the offseason.

WHAT'S NEXT?: There are likely more offers in store for Davis, who is having an impressive junior season. Because of this, pinpointing which visits he'll take in the offseason is tough. Florida will likely be in the schedule. As well West Virginia and Oklahoma. The list of destinations is unlikely to end there, however.
IN HIS WORDS: "The coaches at Oklahoma told me about their relationship with Adrian Peterson," Davis said. "I like that. I don't mind going all the way out there, but I'll stay close to home, too. It just depends what's best for me."
RIVALS' REACTION: Will the Sooners be a finalist for Davis? Who know, but the four-star prospect appears to be high on OU for the time being. Florida will likely be involved in his recruitment until the end, while Clemson, Auburn and West Virginia also seem to have piqued Davis' interest. That said, things are likely to evolve as more scholarship offers arrive over the course of the next six months.
