Miami (Fla.) Coral Reef cornerback Vernon Davis is glad to be back on the football field. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound defensive back entered the spring with a decent amount of recruiting momentum, but two weeks into things the pace is picking up.
"Spring ball is going real good right now," Davis said. "A lot of schools are coming by the school right now. I guess they are liking what they are seeing. My recruitment is starting to go pretty fast now. It is heating up."
At this point, Davis claims offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Florida, Marshall, Memphis, Ole Miss, Southern Meodist, Vanderbilt, and Western Michigan. He is attempting to learn as much as possible about each of his offers.
"I am trying to look up information on each school and see how I fit in there," Davis said. "I plan to research them all. I also plan to built a relationship with the coaches. I want to eventually chop down my list and take a few visits to figure everything out."
In addition to his offers, Davis is also receiving significant attention from Arkansas, Oregon State, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin.
At this stage in the process, he claims no leaders.
"Everybody is pretty even right now," Davis said. "All of them are pretty interested and I expect some others to come into the picture here soon. I am just trying to take everything slow and stay humble."
This summer, Davis said he hopes to attend a few team camps. He also expects to tour some schools along with his teammates from the South Florida Express 7-on-7 squad.
