Davis close to narrowing list

Ryan Davis knows Signing Day is approaching. It's not as though it's sneaking up on him. He's just not too interested in naming favorites at the time being. That will come soon enough.
For now, the four-star wide receiver is letting coaches make their final pitches. Sometime in the next few weeks, he'll announce his five official visit destinations and that, as they say, will be that. Davis has some additional work to do before that takes place, however.

"Kansas State is coming to my house on Tuesday," Davis said. "Alabama - Lane Kiffin -- is coming on Wednesday. Florida State is also coming next week. "
The push to qualify for Davis' final five has been under way for some time already, though. Texas Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, USF, Florida, Ole Miss and others have all been by to see Davis either ta school or at home recently. As the coaches trickle in, Davis and his family do what they can to evaluate the programs.
Finally, it seems, the picture is clearing up.
"Right now, me and my dad, we're just at the point that we're letting everyone talk to us before the dead period," Davis said. "I think this is the last week coaches can come by before the dead period. So then, after this week, we're just going to decide on the official visits."
Joining the schools that have been active in Davis' recruitment for some time, is a newcomer of sorts. Coaches from Georgia have been in constant contact as of late and have dropped by Davis schools. If the new relationship manifests itself in the form of an offer, it may just have an effect on his official visit schedule.
"Georgia is the newest school to really come after me hard," Davis said. "They haven't offered yet, but I think they will this week or so. That's the newest thing, though."
As a senior at St. Petersburg Florida's Lakewood High School, the 5-foot-10 Davis, who plays quarterback for the Spartans, accounted for 3,373 total yards and 35 touchdowns. He will likely play slot wide receiver in college.
