Darrell Jackson re-opens his recruitment

Havana (Fla.) Gadesden County defensive end Darrell Jackson took his first visit to Tennessee February 1, and before leaving Knoxville he committed to Jeremy Pruitt. The 6-foot-6, 255 pounder returned to Tennessee for a second visit early in March before visits were shutdown due to COVID-19.

Other schools have continued to recruit Jackson, and after thinking about his recruitment this season, he has decided to back off his pledge to the Vols.

"I committed too soon and rushed my commitment," said Jackson. "I like Tennessee, and I like the school, but I rushed things.

"They also fired coach Brumbaugh, the defensive line coach, so that was a factor too. I have been thinking about this for a while, and I just want to take more time and look at the options I have."

Florida State could be a school to keep an eye on if the Seminoles offer. His close friend, teammate Joshua Farmer is committed to Florida State, and the two would love to play together on the next level.

He is going to give all schools a chance.

"I am open to everyone. Out of the schools that have offered, I have been talking to Miami, FAU, Mississippi State and FIU the most. I talk with them every week and it has been like that for a while.

"I will wait and see if any other schools offer, then decide what I want to do."

Jackson is now planning to wait and sign in February, but he is not completely ruling out a December signing.
