Dannewitz enjoys official visit No. 1

San Jacinto (Calif.) offensive lineman Ryan Dannewitz took his first official visit of the year this past weekend when he checked out the Oregon Ducks. Although the talented lineman isn't close to making a decision, the Ducks did leave a very good impression on him.
Dannewitz, 6-7, 275 pounds is among the top offensive linemen in the West region. He was an all-state underclass selection a year ago and performed very well at the SoCal NIKE Camp last April.

The lineman recently cut his list to just a handful of schools and visited one of his early favorites over the weekend.
"I loved the visit, I had a very good time," Dannewitz said. "I've been to Oregon before so I had already seen some of the campus and a lot of the football facilities but it was still nice to see it all again. This was my first time seeing the new training facility since they just completed that and it was very impressive for sure.
"I got in real later Friday night, around 2:00 in the morning. I woke up Saturday and had breakfast with the players, toured some of the facilities and then went in to the locker room for pre-game. I also got to be down on the field before the game and the atmosphere there was pretty crazy.
"The crowd was loud the whole game and it was cool to be able to take the visit during a game weekend so I could experience all that. After the game, I went back in to the locker room and met some of the players and my host, who was Charlie Carmichael. We went out later that night and he showed me around the city. I was very comfortable there, Eugene is a nice place and I could definitely see myself there but I'm not close to making any decisions now obviously.
"Sunday, I met with the coaches and talked a lot with Coach Belotti. All the coaches were great and never even brought up me committing. They know I want to take all my visits so Coach Belotti just said to enjoy the process and he told me he was glad they got a chance to get me in for my first visit so I can compare every other trip with Oregon. I really didn't know what to expect since this was my first trip but I really liked it a lot and Oregon is very high on my list."
The only other visit Dannewitz currently has set up is with Louisville for (Dec. 15).
"I still need to set up one with Colorado," Dannewitz said. "I don't know if I'll take any more during the season but if I do, it will be to a school close by where I can just drive there like to San Diego State or Fresno State."
